From all I can gather smoky is fully prepared to make "unbelievable" offer to bring both coaches across cowee mt....
I bet the farm if that's the case, Franklin High School would provide a better offer and keep the Brooks brothers at home. But honestly, think about it....why would they leave? SMHS is a joke, a huge rebuilding effort would need to take place. They have everything they could ever want right here in Franklin and every resource at their disposal. The community is behind them which lacks in Jackson Co. I just don't see any reason they would be stupid enough to leave Franklin esp. with their families so involved in Macon County just as they are.No staff in the state gets more out of there kids than the staff at franklin....people thought football would fall off after goldsmith retired not only did it not slip it has been taken to new heights..so I guess it will be interesting to see how it all plays out..from what I hear smhs may be prepared to make brooks the highest paid football coach in NC..
lawncareguru.......I'd recommend sticking to lawn care and leave the rumor mill about coaching alone.
... School board are in the planning stages for either a new school or a total renovation of the Panther Pit...
Visitors having more fans than home team Monroe is the norm. Terrible following for such a talented team.Don't see it happening, like most of you have said they are pretty well entrenched and have worked their butts off, along with coach hawkins, to build a great program. Even if JCPS offered an astronomical amount, I would say that Macon County would be able to match if not exceed said offer, especially with the differences in support of football in the two communities. Another glaring difference in the two areas is that Macon county is an "old school" system that prides itself on taking care of their own, in order to "offer a package" jackson county would have to think outside the box and find funds other than what is allotted by the state and county. Good luck with that. If it does happen though, it would be the best possible hire for Smoky.
great reply and yes I think macon county will do whats necessary to keep this staff in tact josh has been head coach for 10 yrs and is second longest tenured head coach in wnc behind david gentry and too my knowledge this is first serious talks w another school...I look for all the speculation to end when coach josh tells smoky thanks for the intrest but no thanks and franklin will still have what I feel is a great staff and smoky will still be smoky ...Don't see it happening, like most of you have said they are pretty well entrenched and have worked their butts off, along with coach hawkins, to build a great program.
