Read an article a little while ago on NC High School OT that after the coaches press conferences for the state title games today, which were held in Charlotte for the first time, that they are discussing moving the State Championship games to BOA stadium in the future. David Tepper, owner of the Panthers, has mentioned in the past wanting to host the games at BOA Stadium. He initially was concerned about the field and what several state title games might do to it during NFL season. Now the Panthers and BOA Stadium have a turf field I think Tepper along with NCHSAA see this happening in the next couple of years. What does everyone think about a "possible" move?

Being that I live less than 15 miles from BOA Stadium I’m all for it. It will have the same issues. The stadium is way too big for the size of the fan bases. Folks in the costal regions will complain about travel distances. It will probably give Western teams a home field advantage with crowd sizes.

If it’s free or cheaper use it but if not
Stick
With college locations....I honestly think they should use smaller venues such as elon etc for state title games to give it a better environment.....I think they should also
Use Grimsley high school as well for 1a and 2a

That's what South Carolina has done. They use to have their title games at USC but instead held them at Benedict College this year. Nice stadium not near as big.

I haven’t been to Grimsley and don’t know about amenities (concessions, restrooms, locker rooms, press box), but as far as location and the pictures/video of the stadium I’ve seen, it looks perfect. BofA seems way too big for these games. I think Elon, Wake Forest, UNCC would be great.

Unc Charlotte is about start expansion on its stadium. They originally only built the lower bowl but it's an extremely nice facility. They're about to add an upper deck to both sides of the stadium along with a press box abd suites and it will sit between 32,000 - 35,000. It would be better than Bank of America Stadium. It also has field turf.

Being a native of Charlotte, and the recent renovations to American Legion, that would be a great venue in my selfish opinion. Or UNCC campus.

Just asking, not a UNCC hater, do they even fill the current stadium? Never seen stadium, so I don’t even know what it currently holds.

I can tell you guy's live near Greensboro or further west.
Be a big mistake.

yeah, the eastern guys wouldn't like this.

Interestingly enough in Texas they play alot of state title games in Cowboys stadium. The high school stadiums there are like college stadiums, they like doing it big there.

In Michigan, the state title games are in the Detroit Lions Ford Field, so this is no different, but geographical perspective I can see why the guys west of Greensboro wouldn't like it.

Only for certain games they have. They've had to bring in extra seats against rivals like Appalachian State when they came but most times they don't. This past year was terrible. They just hired an assistant from Michigan as the new head coach. Hopefully he'll turn things around and the stadium will fill up more often especially with expansion. Currently I think it holds around 16,000-18,000.

American Legion is nice since the renovations but isn't it soccer only now? I know they use to have Charlotte's biggest weekly game there back in the day. Huge crowds went to those games.

I lived in Texas for a couple of years working construction work in 79 and 80. That's a huge State. Going from Fort Stockton to Dallas would be a drive. Or from Brownsville

Murphy to Grimsley is still a longer drive than Manteo, Northeastern and South Brunswick to Grimsley. Greensboro is a good, central location.

And yes, I’m two hours west of Greensboro. But I go to the championships games almost every year no matter where they are.

We have no choice if we want to watch the games. I'd drive to Cherokee if that's where they held them. Only thing I would like about that would be going to dairy queen in Cherokee and ordering a large vanilla soft serve ice cream. That's almost worth the drive.

I like Greensboro, using Elon and Grimsley stadiums. If it's central enough for the coaches clinic why not the state championship games?
the only downfall is they are both grass fields.....but i feel that grimsley will not be grass for long
