Asheville beats Pisgah at home 27-9. Asheville moves to 3-0. Pisgah drops to 2-1. I'm not sure about the other MAC scores but yall can post them here.

As for our game. I feel the same way after this one as I did after the first 2. Its very hard to watch us play this year through 3 games. It is hard to watch that many talented players on one team and everything look like a struggle. Pisgah had some fight in them and they are no slouch of a team, but we should have blown that team off the field. We were in complete control of the game the entire way, but for whatever reason we are just terrible with the lead. Its like we just put it in cruise control once we go up 14 and become the most predictable high school team in the country. For the life of me I still cannot understand we do not try to get the ball in Makaus Brewer and Isaiah Drummonds hands more. We threw to those guys maybe 3-4 times total and they caught everything for about 150 yards. There are dozens of plays where a single smaller corner is one on one with these guys and we don't even ATTEMPT to throw one up to them. Its frustrating to watch this team, its like watching a Ferrari go around a race track going 35 mph. I am not impressed so far with this team if we are really a top 5-6 team in 3a.

I dunno if I'd go that far but that's just my opinion... It's only one game all I'll see of the Cougars they are talented than my bears but that's not the best Asheville team I've ever seen that's no knock on them but they lack a few things special Asheville teams have..you take away the two turnovers Pisgah had and its pretty close..Battle is a special player one wideout really impressed me. The big lineman is raw but will develop in college if guys don't get in his head. Again no knock on Asheville they wore us out but at the point I dunno if they stop Reynolds run attack

I agree with you that right now they are not on the level of the great Wilkins teams. We have tons of talent, we just do not spread the ball around at all and that is the understatement of the century.

Congratulation to the Cougars good luck the rest of the year.If you guys don't win it all this year it your own fault. As for my bears looked good at times but to many mistakes. You can't do that against a team like Asheville. We will re-group and be all right rest of the year.We want see another team like Asheville til the play-offs.

Hats off to the Bears. Ya'll have one very well coached team. I didn't see a single kid on ya'lls team take a play off. Lots of fight for sure.

I'm not gonna pick my Cougars apart right now. This is how we come out every single year. We have kids making mistakes and playing out of position and we don't open up the playbook till we're halfway through the conference games. I'm fine with all of that. A month from now we'll look like the team we all expected. It's like this every year. The only thing we really need to work on besides beating ourselves is getting that high octane defense to start clicking. Still think we're playing way too many guys both ways, but you do what you can with what you've got.

Thought the defense looked much better tonight. We were hitting hard from start to finish. Had a couple lapses in the secondary but other than that we looked solid. Noticed we did play Reggie less on defense tonight and 14 stepped in and played pretty well. Offensively we looked solid in the first half. Then as ahscougar1 said, we went into cruise control. Not a very good night by Devon. He under threw a couple balls and he missed Brewer who was wide open a couple times and instead forced it into tight coverage.

Cougar90 I don't see any high octane defense. I haven't seen it all year. I see missed tackles and a bunch of guys more concerned with gettin their picture taken than wrapping up a defender.

And another thing... Reggie Battle had another 29 carries tonight. To go with his 33 last week. Mark my words, its only a matter of time before we get him hurt and then we are all gonna look around and be like "oh no how could this have happened?" Reggie Battle should get the ball alot, he is the most dependable guy we have and a hell of a runningback, but if we continue to let teams tee off on him getting him knocked to the ground 30+ times on offense and defense, he is just not going to make it. We have too many skill guys to sit there and let one guy carry the ball over and over and over and over between the tackles and just take a beating. Its gotten to the point now where the guys in the stands actually have sympathy for him! We have 2-3 guys that never touch the ball and you have no idea why, and you have one guy who is getting 30+ carries. What the hell is going on here?

Asheville was 5 for 8 tonight passing for 125 yards. I bet you nobody in Western North Carolina threw the ball only 8 times in their game. 2 of davidsons 5 completions were touchdowns! We all agree this is one of the best receiving corps we have ever had and we throw the ball 8 times? I don't get it

Don't you just love getting an early 14 point lead and then go into the "Prevent Offense ".
It's like they don't trust anyone but the one running back. They don't even let anyone return a punt. They just let it roll for negative yards.
Trying not to lose instead of trying to win the game.

To be fair I saw somewhere that Rosman hadn't attempted a pass through their first two games, lol. Coach Wilkins has always had a conservative, smash-mouth run game system but so far this year he has been ultra-conservative. Billy, you didn't go to Erwin game?

When Asheville is comparing ourselves to Rosman, we are in MAJOR MAJOR trouble. 8 pass attempts is absolutely unfathomable with our wide receivers.

You guys can say what you want. I know we are ALL frustrated by not seeing a good passing game, but hasn't this been the case every year? I'm not gonna pull my hair out and blow snot bubbles because our coaches aren't calling the plays I want them to call. Wilkins knows what he's doing. When he's gone in a few years we'll be just like everyone else with a spread offense. Chill out and enjoy real Asheville power run football while we still have it. We'll fix the problems that need to be fixed and we'll open up the playbook when we need too. It's all good fellas.

We should be practicing all our playbook now so when we have to actually use it when a team like Weddington controls our run game, we have to have confidence in it in tight games. We shouldn't be running plays we haven't run all year in week 12 because a team in stuffing the run. Nobody is attacking any coaches and I am certainly not saying a negative word about the coaching, but like I said, many of the fans feel like we are going 35 driving a ferrari.

I like smash mouth football, just need to get a couple of our wideouts more touches. We have a good coaching staff. You can't win 12 conference titles in 13 years without good coaching. A win is a win, and it's nice to be 3-0 against three pretty good teams. Just think we could be more dominate if we opened it up more and put teams away.

Congrats Cougars. Pisgah didn't have the same intensity as Asheville in the 1st qtr. Couple turnovers hurt the Bears. Asheville folks don't beat up your team to much. They will gel when its time too. Thankful the Bears came out if this hard hittin' game injury free. Good luck to the Cougars the rest of the season. See ya next season. We'll beat y'all next year! ;)

It'll be close, where is it being played? I think id give the edge to franklin to be honest and im sure the other guys would agree, but that doesn't mean yall couldn't win

No we HAVE seen a good passing game. We have seen a GREAT passing game! We are not frustrated by not seeing a good passing game, we are frustrated because we know we have a good passing game and don't use it.

Consider this. For the season, 3 games...Devon Davidson has thrown the ball 30 times and he has over 500 yards passing and is completing over 65 percent of his passes. That's GREAT for a guy in his 3rd varsity start.

I have to respond to you Dynasty. Devon had a solid game last night and has been the most consistant player on the team. I have not seen a perfect Quarterback yet. The one thing you can say is he is accurate and will take a chance every know and then. You can't be scared to take chances throwing the ball. We just need to throw it around a little more.

Its at Franklin so Pisgah is already 10 points behind. Haha

Yep that's true. Maybe 14 depending on how many helmet to helmet penalties you guys get

Devon has honestly exceeded my expectations. I thought our passing game would drop off some after losing Tevin last year, but Devon has improved a lot from last year and is playing pretty well. I just thought last night he didn't play as well as he did the first two games. Just thought he had Brewer a few times if he would've just thrown it out there to him. Instead, he forced two balls deep to Denzel and Neal, and took a sack on the other one. No offense to Denzel and Neal, they are solid players, but they're not near the deep threat that Brewer and Drummond are. Again, I'm not trying to knock Devon, I think he is going to have a good year. The mistakes are just more noticeable when we don't throw the ball very much.

Cougar1, I'm not arguing with you. When I said we're not "seeing" a good passing game I meant we're not utilizing our good passing game. I know what we have just as well as you do and I'm in agreement with you. All I'm really saying is that this is the same argument we rehash every year even when we don't have a good receiving corps.

What do the Asheville posters think about the Pisgah/Franklin match up?

I personally think this will be one of the best games in WNC that week. I think the physicality of these two teams is just about even and the coaching is pretty much even. I do think Franklin pulls it out because they're in the pitt and they have a couple more athletes. Franklin 24 - Pisgah 20

Davidson definitely missed some passes last night but most of our success on offense came on designed passing plays

I think everyone needs to slow down and stop Nick pickng the Junior Asheville High QB. At the end of the day know one is perfect and he makes plays and we are 3-0. End of conversation. If would throw it more we could be scary on offense.

Nobody is nit picking Davidson. I'm saying quite the opposite. He has been terrific this year if only he was given more chances to showcase his talent

Totallyy agree and same thing I'm saying. Not sure what game Dynasty was watching last night. #4 was solid last night.

All I'm saying is we missed a couple of big play opportunities downfield, end of story. I know no one is perfect, just stating what I saw. Devon has done a good job so far and I'm sure he will continue to get better as the season goes along. We will be fine against most teams we play with our style. However to beat a team like Weddington we will need to throw it early and often. Not just when we have to throw it.

Should be a good one. I give the edge to Franklin with it being played in the Pit, but it could go either way. Pisgah is bigger up front and I think their QB throws it a little better. Franklin's backs might be a little better and I think they have more team speed. Hard to tell though, they're pretty even but I give the slight edge to Franklin.

Iagreed but that is on the coaches. We threw the ball 8 times and completed 5 with 2 touchdowns. Not sure Dynasty in your words not a good night for Davidson. Pretty good to me. And ran one. Are you sure you were at the game.

Ok I admit I'm being a little nit picky, just didn't understand why he didn't throw it up to Brewer with single coverage a couple of times when he had him. And yes I was at the game, been at all 3 plus the scrimmage at Burns.

An interesting fact for Asheville fans that I came across the other day. Asheville has not lost a home game to a mountain team not named Reynolds since 1999. That's pretty impressive.

So have I. It's easy for us to give opinions when we are sitting in the stands on our butts and not playing.

I know one time Davidson didn't throw it to Brewer is because Brewer was on the right side of the field and Davidson was rolling to his left. He hit the check down man instead. With only a couple of seconds to recognize that Brewer was over there without any safety help over the top, it would be hard for anyone especially a junior QB to see that one. Davidson is an athlete and he has one clear advantage with Brandon Whiteside helping to coach him up this year. He's gonna be fine.

Well said Cougar.
