Interesting things happening in the Area IV playoffs. Henderson County, a 7th seed who only won 7 games all season coming into the playoffs knocks off 2nd seed Union County in 3 straight and now has won 5 straight games in the playoffs and is on the verge of taking out Caldwell County, a 3 seed.

On the other hand Rutherford comes into the playoffs undefeated, struggles to beat 8th seed Mint Hill in 5 games in the 1st round and is now down 2-0 to Gastonia. Gastonia, Henderson County and Cherryville have yet to lose a playoff game.

My prediction at this point is that Cherryville and Gastonia will end up in the Area IV championship game, but anything can happen as we have seen thus far. There is still a lot of playoff baseball to be played. I anticipate some huge crowds if the anticipated matchup of Cherryville and Shelby happens in the semi-finals. Can't wait to see how it all plays out.

Shelby loses Game 3 5-2.

Rough night in the field last night for Post 82. 4 errors in the game. Braves were up 3-0 in the first and I believe the only hit was a single. Some base running errors also impacted what they could do at the plate. Hopefully the guys come out as a more focused team in game 4.

They didn't play each other. It's a shame one of these two won't be at the state tournament. They're probably the best 2 in the area.

Someone do the digging. Henderson and Caldwell started the game tonight, and then Henderson forfeited tonight and tomorrow's game to give Caldwell the series win.

I’ve read that their were some players from Henderson who broke team rules but the timing still seems very weird

Not sure what happened, but sounds like the coaches are dedicated to doing things the right way. Hats off to them for making hard decisions to make the program stronger down the road. For the record, I'm not interested in what happened, but just trust the family business aspect of the team and like Forrest Gump, "that's all I have to say about that"!
