Congrats to Trico & Beamer on being the only two to pick Hibriten to go all the way, and therefore shoot to the top of of the final standings in 2AA....I watched most of that game streaming live on my computer (with no volume, while flipping on tv between Wake Forest/Mallard Creek and Tarboro/Mt Airy) and was very impressed with the Hibriten defense and special teams...could argue that the punter and punt coverage team is why they won, since in the end, the safety was the difference in the game, which doesn't happen if East Duplin starts that drive at their own 20....if memory serves, I was thinking there were 2 or 3 other punts where the ball took a huge Hibriten bounce and buried East Duplin, the should have been interception that turned into a 4th & long conversion was also a huge play, though if memory serves, Hibriten did not get any points off of that, just maintained possession and field position....Didn't ED throw a couple of interceptions also?? It felt like the two picks I got wrong Saturday (East Duplin and Scotland....week to weeks, not all in this bracket competition) were very similar games in that the team I picked led 7-0 in 3-4 plays, then didn't execute well on offense the rest of the way until it was too late
It would have helped your chances if your Red Raiders could have made a deeper run....as it happened, only two folks picked Hibriten to win it all and they finished 1-2
Yea. East also converted 4 outta 5 fourth downs. Take those away they don’t score that last TD. But I was happy the clock kept ticking.
Yes, I was annoyed to get a pick wrong....2 years ago I picked all 8 correct (not on the contest filling out the bracket, but round by round picks in a contest on another site), last year I got either 5 out of 8 I think, this year I got 6, in 4A I might should have gone against Scotland with Zamir White injured but I had them in the bracket from the beginning, beating Hoggard the week before, and beating Harding in finals so I rode with my original picks
I was just happy my hometown team got to play at Chapel Hill my favorite college team and then we won it!

Well, I'm the stat guy for varsity football and baseball....I might pop into 3 or 4 basketball games a year but it's usually closer to the end of the regular season or in the playoffs, kind of a busy week and time of year, not sure if I will drop in to a game this week or not, guys are off to a good start thought at 3-0 conference, saw the score from last night and wonder if Warren Co. really dropped off that much (three years ago our only conference loss was at their place on their senior night, last we beat them twice in regular season then lost to them in conf. tourn.) or if our guys are simply ahead of schedule; I hear we have a really good freshman, need to go check them out but not sure if I'll make it this week
The score from the warren county game shocked me. I heard that the freshman was way ahead of the curve and could flat out play
The other day, somebody was telling me that 4 of the top 20 freshman boys basketball players in NC were in the Northern Carolina Conference, with 1 at Roanoke Rapids, 1 at South Granville, 1 at Louisburg, and 1 at Granville Central
