Hey fellow friends! What a long offseason it seemed to have been, but is anyone else just about peeing their pants as these last few days roll around? I know I am. I'll admit....after the way we (SouthWest Edgecombe) got shown the door last season at the hands of Northeastern, I shut the lights off. I took my ball and went home. I didn't even log on to read the post game comments. We didn't offer them a good game and I had no good comments to offer. But we had a darn good season that 3/4 of the state's teams would love to have. We just got a solid butt whooping by a better team. Although we lost a back that gave us 2,500 yds to graduation, we do return a 1,000 yd rusher, and what's even more exciting to me is the fact that my dear nephew has joined the squad. He is a senior running back that has transferred from 4A Grimsley, and boy is he quick! As if I really needed another reason to cheer my Cougars on.....
I'm also excited about a revamped schedule. Routinely, our nonconference schedule consists of county foes Tarboro and North Edgecombe (both 1A), Greene Central (2A), Southern Nash (3A), and Rocky Mount (3A). This year, GC, SN, and RM have been replaced by Nash Central (3A), Bertie(2A), South Central (4A), and we also open on the road at Holmes (2A). Talk about jumping straight into the fire! That's gonna be a tough opener. But I think it's fun to play different teams ever so often instead of the same rotation year after year after year. County opponents and rivals, sure. But I love mixing it up. Are there any other teams that have a new, revamped schedule this year?
Well, I look forward to the start of a new season and to many conversations, debates, stories of your games, chatting with old friends, making new friends, and everything else that goes on here. I hope your team has a healthy and win filled season! Sooo excited!

I don't always cheer, but when I do, I prefer Dos Cougars. SWE'98

I am curious to see if East Davidson can make it two in a row over Thomasville this season. Last season was a close one with East winning for the first time ever 7-6.
