I am INCREDIBLY bored! I finally kicked out of the snow drifts today. Who knows when I’ll be able to get these kids back to school. Main roads are fine in Davidson Co., but there are still quite a few important roads that are one lane paths. Maybe a delay on Thursday? Fingers crossed.

Another fun fact... No other compass point Davidson County school made the playoffs.
East, West, Central, South. All done after the regular season.

Out of the entire county, only North, Ledford (named for an historic educator that no one alive seems to remember) and the two City Systems (Lexington and Thomasville)

The Davidson County school where it really stinks that they didn't use the town name is South Davidson. It should still be Denton High School. The old Denton High School had an interesting history that in now mostly forgotten. Sad when the name is changed to a compass point just because they put up a new building.

A little more understandable when several schools are merged to make a new school. But I don't think that happened at Denton.

I'm actually proposing for Ledford to be renamed NE Davidson everyone in the county will be directional!! Lol Seriously though I don't think you'll see any more schools in Davidson being named after a person. They have none directional names like Oak Grove but wont be named after anyone.

Maybe if we were like Charlotte or Raleigh and had so many schools it would be different. That all came to a head back in the early 2000s when they built Brier Creek Elementary. The people in that area wanted it named after a former principal at Fairgrove Elementary. The board wouldn’t do it and named it after a non-existent creek.

Oak Grove’s name is pretty cool, taken from a former one room school house located about 3 miles away. Funny, but Northeast Davidson and Northeastern Davidson were two of the names suggest for Oak Grove. Keep in mind that Oak Grove is not as Northern or Eastern as Ledford. Glad they dropped that one off the board.

And who knows when another school will be built. Haven’t built a “new” high school since 1961 (East Davidson). The South Davidson building was later than that (1988?), but it was merely a replacement.

Next up is a new elementary school in the Wallburg area to ease overcrowding there. But it isn’t a high priority at this point.

It sat at the corner of Clodfelter Rd and Disher Rd. There are some pictures and some paneling from the original schoolhouse that are supposedly going to be on display at the new school.

The new school in Cabarrus County will be West Cabarrus although it is not the most western school. Would like to see a little imagination with that situation.

Montgomery Central will be the new school with the consolidation of East and West Montgomery.
