Alexander Central names new head football coach

If I were an AC fan I would be pretty happy about this. I know there was a lot of people wanting Harper back but he has no one to blame but himself for not being at AC. Carter will put a lot more emphasis on the defense then I think AC has. There defense was a mess last year stat wise. Offensively, he is going to run the football. Alexander will have more athletic kids than South so he may throw it a little more but it will never be 50-50 or close to it. He is going to run and play D. Always has been and will be his mentality. It will take a little time especially this year in the conference they are in. But when they switch conferences I fully expect them to compete for conference championships especially with the JV team they had this past year.

AC sits in a real competitive conference. Much more than what Carter is used to. Should be a very good challenge and change for him. Great combo of hardcore games ( Mooresville, SI, Statesville, Lake Norman) and relax and try different plays games such as North Lincoln, West Iredell, and North Iredell.

I can't see him winning a conf crown in this conference right before they turn around an realign again. I could be wrong but just looking at it from this point in the year, no.

I know after this year North Lincoln an West Iredell will be out of this conf cause they carry 2a numbers right now as we speak an low numbers at that. Big sign of relief for them cause they've been beat down pretty bad. I said all that to say this, the conf is changing and I wouldn't know offhand who AC's next conf setup will be. Fun and interesting to see and talk about if anything

Im not sure how their new QB Gunnar Anderson fits a wing t system... Saw Gunnar play some last year and the kid has real arm talent. Hes not really the type of QB that is built for the wing t.... Hes not a landon hammer.

Didnt West or North beat AC last year?
North beat AC during the 2014 season. It was a fairly good North Lincoln team that beat Lincolnton an came within 1 point of beating East Lincoln so we all assumed this may be a playoff team. They did beat AC that year but with injuries came up short of even making it to the playoffs with a loss agains west Iredell who I don't believe beat AC.

He better get out of there as fast as he can..... Have watched Carter for years and he
changes for nobody, regardless of skill set

Every once in a while AC carries a talented running back. Carter can call good plays if the running game is soild. Give him a good QB to go with it an the play action will be a huge advantage.

Doed AC have any size on the oline? I remember them 2 years ago. Oline was kinda small

Champ i would not call them big, but they aren't exactly small either.

Saw an interview with Butch Carter, sounds as if he is not committed to running "his offense" at AC. He is going to build an offense around what AC's talent is, as opposed to transitioning his S Caldwell offense to AC

He was forced to do "his offense" at South. That is obvious simply because South didn't have the talent to do much else. I know we all want to throw the ball but South had the O-linemen and RB's. They are never blessed with a ton of skill kids so therefore you don't have many receivers to throw to. Every once in a while they would have a QB-WR combo but it was rare. Therefore, I could see him opening up more and trying to get balanced because you will have more kids to be able to do that with. From what I have heard, the OC will stay and it will be his offense. The defense is going to be the priority and I don't know if Carter will run it but he will most likely be on that side of the ball 80% of the time.

No word on South still and it's mid-March. People in this community are starting to get really upset. The administration and AD don't care about football it seems. If this was a baseball issue it would be solved. You hate to say that because baseball gets a bad wrap and I enjoy baseball but it's the truth. The kids are hanging in the balance and I think it's gonna hit the fan if they don't make a decision. No wonder Carter left

cpark171 you are right. Football has taken a back seat to baseball for years
at South Caldwell. With this being said..... South baseball is a favorite to win the state
this year. I saw R Haire the other day and he is the real deal.

South has announced new football coach Sean macnenomy from delasalle high school in Minnesota a 4A school got a good one

Just hoping that this guy from Minnesota comes and gets here quickly for the kids sake.
