With the sad news that NC decided to push the season to the spring I'm offering any die=hard high school football fans a chance to adopt and follow a TX team where this former long-time NC resident and high school football player now resides.

The team is Melissa High School Cardinals in Melissa, TX approx. 35 miles NE of Dallas. Our enrollment is 971 which would make us a 2AA team in NC, but we are a 4A D1 team in TX. The season opened last Friday with a win over favored rival Celina HS on the road 32-20. Melissa has a few players with D1 college interest, most notably WR #5 Antonio Robinson 6-4 200 who already hold offers from Wisconsin and Arizona.

Melissa was 9-4 last year advancing to 3rd round of 4A D1 playoffs before losing a heartbreaker 45-42 on a long last second FG. Tonight's opponent Sunnyvale HS finished 12-1 last season, also advancing to 3rd round of playoffs.

If interested and needing a small town high school fix during this crazy year log on to YouTube at 8:30 PM and type Melissa ISD into search and live stream will show up for viewing.
