The N.C. High School Athletics Association will officially sanction women’s wrestling for the 2023-24 season, a milestone in the sport’s evolution that should lead to a boom in the number of young women who come out for wrestling. (Good long story with lots of pictures)

We in Mount Airy have to be proud of all these kids and the sports they chose to go out for and the ones that lead the way into new sports for others to follow. Go BEARS Sports ! I can remember in the 1990s when we first got soccer and I was working at the Newspaper. If Hollingsworth was still here he could tell you something funny about me and my first time taking pictures at a soccer game and I had never even watched a soccer game before that day. lol. Every time I think about it I LMAO.
