Tournament Purpose: One of our goals with this event is to create an opportunity for each high school team, player, and coach to improve and grow together, while competing for a championship. We think the best way to do this is in a positive, competitive, “playoff” atmosphere, instead of just “scrimmaging.” We hope that the tournament format, along with the championship awards, will help create this environment and become a summer event that each team and the community look forward to.

Another goal of this tournament is to honor an extremely loyal and long-time supporter of Forest Hills High School, Mr. Roy McBryde. Over the years, Forest Hills has never had a more dedicated supporter than Mr. McBryde. Known to many as, “Mr. Roy,” he rarely missed a home event and went above and beyond to support Yellow Jacket Basketball and the Forest Hills Athletic Program. Mr. McBryde served in many roles in the Marshville community and dedicated much of himself to Forest Hills and our student-athletes. Without Mr. McBryde’s selfless service, Forest Hills High School would not be the same.

This year’s tournament will continue to be of special significance, since this will be the 2nd year Mr. McBryde has not been with us. Sadly, Mr. McBryde passed away on October 26, 2015. We will have heavy hearts but we hope you join us in honoring the memory of Mr. Roy McBryde and all he did for our community.
