Fairmont (4-3) (3-0) at South Columbus (5-2) (3-0)
This will be the game of which Defense makes a stop or gets a turnover. Could be a high scoring affair.
Fairmont 38 South Columbus 32

St. Pauls (5-2) (3-0) at Whiteville (3-4) (2-1)
St. Pauls has won 4 in a row and will try and make it number 5. Should be a close game with Whiteville riding high after the good win against Red Springs. I think the bulldogs defense is to tough.
St. Pauls 28 Whiteville 12

Red Springs (4-3) (1-2) vs West Columbus (0-7) (0-3)
It will be a good Homecoming for Red Springs
Red Springs 48 West Columbus 6

East Columbus (0-7) (0-3) at South Robeson (0-7) (0-3)
The gators visit the mustangs on senior night. One team will come away with their first win of the season. I will take the mustangs in a relatively close game.
South Robeson 21 East Columbus 14

No shocker there Pride, this game could go either way depending on a turnover or a costly penalty. Fairmont is very comfortable throwing the ball and that is not a South Columbus strength, got to get pressure on Caulder and help those defensive backs. Stamina for the defense will also be tested since they are are not used to chasing recievers all over the field. Stallions offense has to stay on the field and keep theirs on the sidelines.

Dirty I think SC year away from being a very good team. Good now, well coached. Fairmont best team I've seen this year. That 1 rec. they have is hard enough to cover add 2 more very good rec. to that you got u hands full. Turnovers will be a big part.
Also they have a big FB that's a load in running game. If u try to rush QB they have quick pop passes and screen they do.
WC gave no game at all to them. I've never seen a high school team as WC put on field tonight. U can't run spread with kids they
(WC) have. I would think u got rush 4 vs Fairmont's QB and cover their sides.
I don't think u can shake Caulder he has good field vision. Good luck and get win SC.

I watched South Columbus last week and Fairmont tonight. Fairmont seems unstoppable on offense because they have so many weapons and their defense seems to be getting better. I was getting upset because Caulder kept throwing the same tunnel screen over and over and we could not stop it. It was sickening. We scored very late in the game on a pass, but Fairmont seemed to have cleared their bench after the half. Not going to lie. We stopped South Columbus a play here and a play there, but we NEVER stopped Fairmont tonight. Caulder only threw the ball a few times, but it was for 6 when he did. Their offense is legit, and their defense is quick enough to make stops. They got several penalties tonight for hitting our QB late, which kept the score from being worse than it was, although it was really bad. Coach Pierce went to the spread most of the night tonight. It was fun to watch, but we just do not have the athletes to be good at it right now. Hoping we will be able to do it well in the future. Most of our players are hurt. Fairmont and South Columbus are the two best teams I have seen play my Vikings this season, but I will give the edge to Fairmont. When we passed on South Columbus last week, we hurt them. We are no where in the ballpark compared to Fairmont in throwing the ball. Caulder has a cannon and he has 3 or 4 receivers who can go get it. Here is my prediction, and it may shock some of you:

Fairmont 42 South Columbus 28
I agree with a lot of that but you have to remember when WC started passing the ball a little SC had most of its starting D on the sideline. Most of the starting O and D didn't play after half at all. It's no secret that Fairmont has one of the most explosive offenses around but I think coach dove makes plans to pressure their QB. If not..... it will be a long night. I hope WC gets better numbers on the future and becomes stronger. I do not like to see 18-20 kids on the sideline for one team. Those kids had heart but they need numbers too. Good luck in future years. Oh and my prediction.....SC over Fairmont by one TD in one of the best games of the year.

I can almost guarantee you coach dove and jake the snake will have some blitz calls dialed up and Caulder won't have the time he's usually been given to throw the ball. I think our secondary is the weak link on our defense no doubt but I think our front seven will make enough plays for us to pull out the win for homecoming. Stallions 33 Fairmont 28

Well if I gotta pick my poison I'd rather it be sending some pain on the way rather than sending three down lineman and getting picked apart. Just my opinion.

I think SC will have to throw the ball to win. Not the deep passes but slants and post. Against Whiteville they packed the line of scrimmage and their linebackers and secondary are pretty quick. The two interior linemen probably did not weigh over 170 lbs. I know that Spencer is capable of quick passes, so make the secondary back off the line of scrimmage and pound the middle. South will need to have someone stay with the running back as he is sliding into the flat when Caulder does scramble. Good Luck to Coach Dove and the Stallions.

Everyone has a plan until they get hit in the mouth.... you got to hit that QB every chance you get if he's going to complete passes he's going to do it with the blitz in his face all night... send as many as you can don't leave any bullets in the gun.

This will be the most exciting game in our area of the year. Is it your homecoming SCHS2011? That's what I am hearing. I may ride over to Tabor City to watch this one. Where do you all normally sit? I may come hang out with you all. West is at Red Springs. Do not feel like driving that far.

Yes it is wchs don't know how we got it planned on a team like Fairmont but it's how it fell. We always sit on the first row of stairs 3 or 4 from the top. Mr Joey Stevens that runs the IGA in Tabor City always sits with us! Should be an exciting game I just got faith that our defense will get a turnover when they need it the most just like they did against east bladen.

Honestly I don't know if we will play. Man it will take the field forever to dry out with this rain. Raining buckets of water right now. I hope it dries out

If u don't he will get ball in play down field.
Your defense is good enough u can gamble with blitz . Hope u can. Their recs. Are well coached on separation to get open. Be a great game I'm going.

South Columbus' best defense will be to keep Fairmont's offense off the field. Ground and pound all the way...control the clock. Take the short passes all day long rather than give up the big plays downfield.

They threw a lot of quick screens against us that went to the house, but we are awful. Caulder only threw 5 passes and 4 went to the house according to the robeson paper. I thought he threw a few more. I stood at the goal post near the concession stand and I could hear their coordinator telling them to get lined up quickly. They snapped the ball quick and did not give us a chance to line up. That may play a factor in the game. Can South line up fast enough?
So they ran no-hudle and hurry up? If so, then yes the defense has to line up very quickly, but if the offense substitutes, then the defense has to have the opportunity to substitute as well.

They do not huddle. Their coach yells different names and they all look at a wrist band with the play on it. They are able to get lined up fast and snap the ball. I think it is pretty neat. I'm sure it takes a lot of practice. In my playing days at West, we would huddle up and a different receiver would bring the play in. Of course, we were wing t! This spread stuff is a lot different.
I'm a DarkHorse til I die, but have been living in the central part of the state since 1997. The majority of the teams in my area run spread, which is fine, but I'm old school all the way. I want my team to just line up and hit you in the mouth, know what I mean lol?

I was helping with chains and heard coaches saying WC was weakest team they had ever seen. They did not do or show a lot cause they didn't have to. I do know on Defense they had quite few late hits on QB for 15 yards. They can't do that vs SC.
Very quick on Defense too but SC running game might hurt them,we will see if they play Friday which I doubt. Robeson co. under water now,no power. We will probably see a lot of Monday night games .

Doesn't look like the games are happening this week. All schools closed remainder of the week in Col Co and I'm sure elsewhere. Looks like this Fairmont game might have to be added at the end of the season. Idk how they will reschedule yet.

Haven't heard anything official but I know school has been cancelled at south Columbus for the rest of the week and homecoming Friday night has been cancelled I'm guessing the game will also be cancelled...things are a mess down this way..still no power and flooded roads everywhere

There will be very little Friday Nite Lights in Southeast North Carolina this week. It humbles us when we
realize there are more important things than the "game". I hope and pray for the best to all my friends and
neighbors in NC and SC.

Just heard that NCHSAA is wanting to move everything back a week and put all the games from this week at the end of the season. Don't know for sure if it will play out this way but it's the last update I got. I hope all the posters on here are safe and doing better. Keep the Chestnutt family in your prayers. One of Souths linebackers lost his grandfather in the flood water, he dove in to try to get him out of the truck but he was already gone. Just a bad situation in Southeast NC. Wishing everyone the best and praying for everyone!
