This is it, we’ve made it to the last 3 games of 2A high school football. It’s all or nothing and there are no slouches or easy rides left. You win or you go home. Hopefully this thread gets everyone involved (Eastern and Western).

East Duplin vs. Wallace

I’ll take East Duplin by 7.

Reidsville vs. Burns

I’ll take Reidsville by 10.

That puts Reidsville vs East Duplin in the state championship. As much as I would love my Panthers to win their first football SC, I believe Reidsville is too strong and is the best overall team left in the Final 4. Reidsville by 7 in the SC.

These are just predictions and I could be absolutely wrong, I’ll be pulling for my Panthers either way.

Let’s hear everyone’s thoughts!

I’m not giving the trophy to the west yet. Almost everyone wanted to GIVE Shelby the trophy at beginning of season. Not me! It was impossible for Shelby to replace that team last year. I’ve had Reidsville ever since Crest beat Shelby. So, I got Reidsville over Burns by 5 and WRH over ED by 10. Got WRH over Reidsville in SC by 3

Anything could happen these next two weeks, but because I'm a wrh alum, I'll take the dogs by 7 in a game that I feel is a toss-up, and I've said they were even all year long. I'm gonna go with Burns by 6 in the West. Wrh upsets Burns in championship game. It could happen

There are 2 groups of bulldogs in the final four.

I prefer NOT to have a bulldog bowl where another beat down would likely ensue.

Go Panthers!
Oh, I get it. You're the commissioner overseeing what develops this weekend! Let your fellow haters know they'll be a dc rep there!

that's no surprise, any half decent team over here could be top dog over there

Not true. The west has probably gotten the best of the east lately, but that trend tends to change every few years. I can see Newbern, Tarboro, possibly the DC team giving g a good account of themselves this year. It's not an automatic victory for the west. History reveals some success for the east. You act like we don't have a chance. Cmon, you know more football than that

I feel good about ED. Can't have too many dog mascots floating around at this time.

If memory serves me, last year WRH only had 2 possessions in the first half of last years ED game. Doesn’t seem like ED is controlling the ball as much this year. Is it because the offensive is more explosive? Someone help me out here.

How did you come to Reidsville after Crest beat Shelby, yet Burns beat Crest by 23 and Shelby by 56 over two games?. Just curious

Shelby losing to Crest just told me Shelby was out of the picture this year. Burns, Crest and Shelby are more familiar with each other and those scores of those games didn’t play in me picking Reidsville. Honesty, I know nothing about Burns. Guess we’ll know Friday

Weird, as Shelby losing to Crest was a normal thing before 2017. Crest was just making it normal again.

dog79, I know this sounds corny but in a few ways Burns and East Duplin are alike: both have similar colors for uniforms, Burns and East Duplin are in very rural areas, Burns is located between Fallston and Lawndale, who have a combined population of 1,206 and Beulaville has a population of 1,114 (according to Google)…Wallace (Without Rose Hill or Teachey) is nearly a thousand people larger than all three towns combined, and both, Burns and East Duplin, are (in my opinion) in two of the best and toughest (Cleveland & Duplin) football counties in the state.

*A little bit of a disclaimer, here: this isn't an insinuation that Burns and East Duplin will play for the championship. I believe it could be them, but it will be awfully hard for either team to win their regional, playing against two teams who are nearly a fixture in title games. Just have it in my head that the four teams still standing may be closer to equal than I've seen in a long time and that the east has an even chance of taking the title.

Side note: I figure Chopper will cuss me out over saying that, but hey, it's part of the discussion.

One thing I would like to add…..East Duplin enrollment is more than Wrh by approximately 150 -160 kids. East duplin covers a large area not just Beulaville. I’d guess 60% + of the kids that attend Rose Hill-Magnolia(k-8 school) attend James Kenan High School. So by using town population #’s it’s misleading.

Dawg-on, thanks for the information. I meant it as a comparison of the areas they're from and not in the sense of ADM's. I'd felt like East Duplin was the bigger school all along since WRH was 1A or 1AA for a while and also in 2017 East Duplin had played in the 2AA title game while WRH was playing for the 2A championship.

You mentioning school numbers, I looked at the the latest ADM's that I could find and ED is 913 and Burns 947 which to me is another similarity. WRH's numbers were 674 which would make ED even bigger by 239 students. WRH my be a small 2A school but they definitely can play some football.

*Side note, not sure how correct these ADM's currently are.

I haven’t seen the numbers lately but I knew Ed had more students. Either way it’s going to be a great game.

That’s great, I’d never heard of letting school out early. They’ll probably have to get extra help for traffic control. With all this happening I figure both teams will be completely fired up by kickoff.
