2A East and West which program is on the rise and decline in 2022?

In the East I would say SWO is in decline. Not sure if it is the coaching, the cyclic nature of kids transferring in and out or both. But I'm sure they won't be down for too long.
I’ve been told SWO has only lost 3 players. The 2 to WRH and another to Richlands and he had transfered from Richlands previously. Doesn’t sound like “mass exodus “

Swo lost 4 players Kerr, McCallie, Bannerman and Schrei. I am sure they will bounce back. It’s just going to take a little time.

In the West...Lincolnton is my big riser. These kids find a way to channel their aggression in a positive football way I see the third round in their future.
Thank you, my friend. I hope we can live up to it. The last time we had a drought like this was from 1995 through 2000. In 2001 we had a winning season (lost in a very hard fought match with Maiden in what I believe was the first game of that year), and made it to the semifinals which included wins over Reidsville and Shelby before losing out to Burlington Cummings on a late game field goal.

Since then, we had a couple of bad years (2002, 2006 and 2012), a few mediocre seasons and some pretty good ones including three state title appearances in which we went 1-2. Then counting 2017 along with the next four seasons we have been down, and I mean down. Last year gave us some hope with Coach Byrd.
Start of the season is just around the corner and I know you and Maiden Creek are counting the days and looking forward to your Blue Devils doing some BIG things.

The East…..a 10 seed?…who da thunk it?

Prolly a stretch…..ya never know about the East though….per Crush….…but I like Roanoke Rapids as a riser…based on the quality of their conference and their close losses last fall…including an OT loss to St. Paul’s.

ALL!…..of their studs are returning as well.

I love a long shot!…but I’ve never seen them play…..could they be the next 10 seed?😜

I’ll be watching their conference closely…

Jackets have a ton of seniors in skill positions with 3-4 years of varsity experience. The keys will be the linemen on both sides and getting through the 3A Nash County schools healthy. One 2A school in our league schedules 3 non-conference games instead of running that gauntlet. If healthy, the Jackets won’t be intimidated if they make the playoffs. I’m interested to see how things go against a quality Northampton team in the opener.

How interesting….choosing to play non conference teams instead of conference teams….don’t know if I’ve ever seen that before…maybe?…but I don’t remember it.

It’s Louisburg….maybe it’s a smart move….I see they gave the jackets a fit last fall and yet I’m surprised at how Bunn just throttled them.
I do recall that someone said that Bunn was the best looking 3-7 team during the playoffs against Princeton. Is Bunn on the rise?…seems Bunn has some history…don’t they?…known for being good at one time.

Honestly…y’all’s conference….I know next to nothing about….hoping someone can share more.

Core are the athletes gone now or numbers not there. West Columbus should improve so is Whiteville. I don't like this new conf. We're in
I can’t call it bud … but seems like the wind is outta the sails for the whole community for stallion football imo maybe it’s just me I dunno just don’t have the juice it used to have

This may sound a little strange, but in the West look for the Reidsville Rams to field maybe the best teams they have ever had in 2022 and 2023.

Loads of talented returning veterans and some of the best young talent in the freshman class make for a very bright future. Assuming no major season ending injury problems at key positions, depth should be no concern for the next couple of years.

A couple of tough opening road games will tell a lot.

Reidsville?…risers?…you’re right Mule….that does sound a little strange. 😂

In the West I say Shelby is definitely declining. They will probably just be runner up in the State Championship this year. Not sure if their fans will be able to stand the slide. Coaches heads probably gonna roll after this season. 😅
Dumb comment, we don't rebuild,we reload...

And they say we’re wound tight man Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles could see Mgsouthwest was just joking with that comment…..everyone who follows 2A football in NC knows championship runs thru Shelby.

Just a friendly shot across the bow so you guys can keep whistling past the graveyard.:rolleyes:
Man has gotten all Shakespearean on me.
And yeah, we also know the Rams went toe to toe with Dudley in glorified flag football recently. We get it! We know the Rams are going to be some bad mofos. Don’t let this Shelby talk and hype get to you, Mule. To the victor go the spoils, man. No one is sleeping on Reidsville.

Go to the 3A board, the talk is Dudley. 1A, it’s Tarboro, so on and so on. Each school returns a lot, so of course they’re going to be the favorites and most hyped up in these forums, in the preseason.

Stay humble though, big guy. Be reminded that this is one division now. Those “scare tactics” and that chest beating is no longer going to work as it did in lil 2A. I promise you the Maidens, the Burns, and the Monroe’s aren’t going to be scared of you guys, either. Salisbury, Hendersonville, and East Surry are to be respected, too.

Same goes for Shelby. We love our chances. But, that Lawndale community is feeling confident that their school has what it takes to take down the Lions this season I have already seen the chatter on Facebook. They return a lot, and they have added to their coaching staff. They definitely have my respect.

Ol Mule been drinking that Dan River water this weekend lol.

But in all seriousness, this years Reidsville team will be better than last years. Deeper and more matured key players. Should be fun to see how that plays out this year.

My main concern is ol depth. I know we 3 solid guys, but they are also heavily going both ways

Covid is responsible for a little of that but more on the lines of folks using covid as a crutch to stay home and not support and not push their kids to play in fear of getting sick. What Stallion Nation need to do to get back on track is support the Stallions. Go to the games. Talk about it on social media. Buy their Stallion Club membership and support whatever fund raisers they may be doing. Better support will get better results. Go Stallions!
