This might seem like a mismatch on paper, but SWE has really struggled with Washington over the last few years. Before realignment, we were both in the same conference and Washington won the first 3 before SWE prevailed in the final meeting in 2016.We can't forget the
53-13 drubbing Washington gave the 2015 13-2 eastern finalist SWE team, on the SW home turf, no less. 1-3 in the last 4 meetings, Washington has had SWE's number. And they don't seem like a bad team this season. They defeated 7-4 East Carteret, hung 45 on a very good DH Conley, and only lost by 3 to 8th ranked Kinston(11-0). I wasn't really happy to see this matchup and actually have some fear about it.

You really need to write the Monday team speeches for Coach Cobb. You make a case that a truly awful Washington team is a sleeping tiger. East Carteret under BJ Frazier is a shadow of what it was under Caleb King. The Mariners signature win so far was against a very down West Carteret in week 2. They lost games to Richlands(?) and Trask(???)...at home! Kinston has got to be the weakest undefeated team in the state. If you are struggling to beat Farmville Central and North Lenoir, then you are the textbook definition of a paper tiger. Pretty much any Conley game looks more like hockey than football the way both teams go back and forth down the field. As long as the Cougar's defense gets off the bus, they shouldn't have any problem with Washington. SWE by 4 TD's.

But we do have the luxury of experience, when 15 SWE went on the road and eliminated 2 E. Duplin in 2012. So we know it can happen. It's gonna take more than just showing up.

That's true. But ever since that game, they have been playing piss poor. True, you only have to win by one, and I'd take a 1 point championship over no championship, but I just have the feeling that AG gets revenge tonight. AG hasnt really beaten anybody though. I guess I'm going with my dislike of Kinston, ever since we got hosed there in 2015.

I lived in Kinston for 5 years. I can honestly say my favorite moment in Kinston was in the moving truck leaving town.

Didn't you guys score 3 TDs in the 4th to win that game? I remembered seeing that final and thinking someone broke out Wallace-Rose Hill uniforms at the quarter break. That was Raymond's last stand.

Hit it right on the head. We were not the better team, but something was said after the 3rdQ that lit a fire in the guys. Maybe they wanted to win one more for coach. Whatever it was, the 4thQ was nothing but heart. The last drive was a thing of beauty. Down 22-26 to start with 2min remaining, we scored from 5yards out to make it 28-26 with 10 seconds left. Going for 2 was obvious, as ED had made two field goals already. We get it, on a jump pass lol. The defense held on for one last desperation play, and it ended up being one of the greatest SWE victories I ever witnessed. It was amazing.

I’m not sure Tarboro was better than East Duplin in 2010. They are always in the discussion of really good football programs, but they have struggled to reach the ship. Meanwhile, there is a smaller school in the county that sucks all the air out of the room. Sound familiar?
