Friday Night Fan in search of the best Game to go watch this week.

For a couple of years now, I have to come down to the Gaston Co area for business. All I hear about is either Red Raiders or the teams in Cleveland County. I have seen Ashbrook play, and was mildly impressed. We don't have great football in Western MD, but that doesn't mean I don't know it when I see it. I've been reading some of these threads, and I'm not interested in getting into a war of wits....I like the Cherokee St Grill in Kings Mountain, and KM is at home this week. All I hear is Cleveland County, Cleveland County, but all I also hear is about the two schools in Shelby. One guy keeps telling me that one of the Shelby schools is so good, the Carolina Panthers come watch them play. Suggestions this week, and then I'll be back in 2 weeks. Thanks

SE Guilford @ NW Guilford

Great win for the Falcons. Defense stepped up when it had to,and the offense put it in the endzone when they had to. NW has some big time players. Hennigan, Turner, Finney, and Cloud to just name a few - they have a lot to look forward to the rest of the season.

Hated to see Hennigan get hurt - Any update on his condition? I am hoping that it wasn't as bad as it looked when it happened. Even with Hennigan hurt, NW has a good group of athletes that can make big plays. Best of luck the rest of the way to both teams!

South Davidson Could be a multi-win team once again

Football is a big deal if you travel down to Denton, NC. Though the passion hasn't lead to wins in recent years. South is 4-40 since the 11-12 school year. Monday South will play at home vs West Davidson for a chance to win 2 games before conference starts the 9th. South hasn't been .500 or better since 2003 when they were 6-6, and the best since then has been a 4-8 year. Could it be that South could win Monday and maybe squeeze out 3 or 4 wins this season?

Whats the Deal at Crest

I am in Eastern NC and follow my Chargers mostly through The Star and watch them every Friday online. I was pretty much disgusted by what I watched in the first half. My biggest take away was how unprepared and dis-interested the Crest players looked. I had my doubts about Coach Clark. His only previous head coaching job only yielded 2 wins. I was shocked that the school did not go out and search for a proven coach. Yes he went 16-0 last year but he was also handed the keys to a porsche and just had to keep the car straight. This year the talent is there, Crest dwarfed SP and everyone knows they are athletic. I am not surprised by the SP win but I am surprised at how dominant they were. Looking at the sideline you could tell the Crest coaches were scrambling. Im interested to hear feedback from more knowledgeable Crest fans as too if they think Coach Clark is going to have to rely on getting talent to win or can he actually "coach" his way to wins. Crest did not lack size, speed, or talent friday night. To me they lacked Coaching.. interested to see the feedback.

Three Rivers (Week 4)

Here are my new Three Rivers Conference predictions after week 3:

1. South Columbus
2. Whiteville
3. St. Pauls
4. Red Springs
5. Fairmont
6. South Robeson
7. East Columbus
8. West Columbus

South Columbus is impressive. They are back in their old offense and the kids seem motivated to win. Coach Dove has done a heckuva job so far and it is good to see a team in our county back on top. Whiteville made a statement last night and I think they are moving in the right direction. St. Pauls made a statement as well, scoring 28 on the East Bladen Eagles. Coach King is doing a great job at SPHS. Red Springs is 2-1 and has shown that they can play a little defense and score when needed. Red Springs also runs the ball well, which will hurt teams like Fairmont who cannot stop the run. Stick a fork in Fairmont. I originally thought they would compete for the conference title, but they will be lucky to finish 4th or above based on what I have read and heard. Their defense is awful and their offense is not scoring nearly as much as it was last year. I thought they would be able to outscore teams, but they are struggling. Even if they were scoring, they would not be able to score enough to win because their defense is bad. They will be lucky to make the playoffs at this point. I see the Tornadoes finishing 5-6 or 6-5, pending whether they can beat Red Springs. South Robeson competed much better than I thought they would last night at Swett. Fairmont better be on their toes in a few weeks. From what I hear, South Robeson is a Wing T like South Columbus and is run first. If Fairmont cannot stop Ashley, they may not be able to stop South Robeson. East Columbus and West Columbus, as much as I hate to say it, will compete for last place in the conference. My Vikings are awful as well, and I do not see them getting any better until Coach Pierce has had them for a full season.

Post your thoughts.

Four County Conf Week 5

Clinton vs Hoggard
Pender @ Trinity Christian
East Bladen @ Laney
Union vs Princeton
Midway open
Trask open
West Bladen open
Wallace open

Right now going into week 5 conf is a combined 22-6 with 4 teams Wallace,Clinton,Trask, and Union undefeated......with one week to go before conf play starts how do yall see conference playing out????......I seen Union play and they are much improved...Trask I believe has benefited from a very weak schedule as their 4 opponents have a combined record of 2-9 beating three 0-3 teams guess we will find out sept 23 when they play Wallace.

Albemarle @ Chatham Central

What in the past has always been a sure win for the dogs will not be this year. I believe this is our first winnable game but we could also come away with our first lost ever to CC. I'm sure they will be bigger and stronger than us and that could be the difference. Also they know this is their first chance to beat the bulldogs and they should be really fired up..But it's also one the few winnable games we have this year and I'm sure our kids know that. So we should be equally fired up. This game could go either way.........
