Randleman vs Lexington

Well this Friday 's game just got more interesting....Lexington is playing well and the Tigers looked pretty good
this past Friday night. It's going to be tough for me as I have a grandson that plays for Lexington and I am very
loyal to the Tigers.....I hope my Grandson has the best game he has ever played.............and I will be pulling for the orange and Blue.........Anyone have any thoughts on this game...........

Mid State 3A round up

All but one team was in action last night, Northern Guilford will open up next week. Conference went 4-4 and it looks like once again the conference will be very top heavy with EA, NG and WA all very strong.

EA 56 Graham 14: Eagles pick up right where they left off on offense last year with John Lamot, arguably the most explosive player in the conference (along with CJ Freeman of course) leading the way with 180 yards on the ground and another 130 in the air. Big news for the Eagles is holding the dynamic duo of Jamie Newman and Daniel Graves to only 14 points after surrendering 49 a season ago. If the eagles defense is as improved as this score might indicate, EA could very well repeat as conference champs.

WA 51 Cummings 16: Sounds like the game was close early on with the Warriors asserting their dominance in the second half. Might be a trend all season as teams have to deal with bruiser Darius Pinnix in the backfield. Not gonna be fun for opposing defenses to try and wrap up that big playmaker. Add in Trey McCollum back for his third year directing the offense and the Warriors are in good shape this season.

Morehead 34 Western Guilford 0: Don't know many details but a goose egg on the board is always impressive, especially from a team that has struggled some in the past in Morehead. The Panthers seem to have some excitement about them this season and although I don't think they can knock down any of the big three, looks like Morehead might at least put a scare into them and battle Eastern Guilford for fourth place.

Eastern Guilford 36 Southern Guilford 29: Speaking of the Wildcats a good early win in the post Jarius Morehead campaign. Looks like Doug Robertson has EG headed in the right direction with a win over the storm. Tough test next week against SE Guilford might show some more, and depth is always a concern, but good to get the season started in the win column.

Williams 6 Southern Alamance 14: Looks like it might be a tough season for the Bulldogs, with a disappointing loss to Southern Alamance (who only won 1 game a season ago) to start the year. Sounds like the Bulldogs could not stop the run, which does not bode well with WA, NG, and EA all featuring dominant rushing games.

Rockingham County 26 Walkertown 29: Tough opening loss for Derick Minor's coaching debut as the Cougars dropped a close one to 1A Walkertown. Cougars led at the half but could not hold on. County rival Reidsville is up next for RC, which could get ugly.

McMichael 0 Reidsville 49: Not much to say, Reidsville is good and McMichael... is not. We will find out more about the Phoenix when they host East Davidson.

Northeast Guilford 7 Parkland 29: Not the debut new head coach Jason Lippard was hoping for as the Rams were handled thoroughly by Parkland, who while is a 4A school, won zero games last year. Doesn't get any easier for NE who plays strong 4A teams in High Point Central and Ragsdale in the coming weeks.

Shelby @ South Point

Ok lets start this one, Shelby comming off 2 big wins over Freedom, and Ac Reynolds both 3a,and Sp 1-1 a loss to Crest and a come from behind win against Lincolnton.
Can SP D slow down the air attack of Shelby, which so far has around 1000 yrds offense in 2 games, or can Sp D be the 1st to slow Shelby down.
Can Shelby contain Qb of SP?
I think Shelbys rec. Crew will be to much for South Point, i also belive SP cant handle the balance of the run pass of Shelby,I keep hearing how good the D line of SP is,but dont forget this is a experienced O-line of Shelby. ..Shelbys D better then people realize, there just on feild way to much, due to the fast strike Offense.
I hate playing in belmont, parking is bad,and calls seem always for home side..lol....
I think Shelby wins this battle 38-14

Friday Night Lights......

the lights I seen on Friday were the Lightning strikes. I went to Rowland to watch PSHS vs SR. I got to the gate and paid 30 bucks to get into the game, on my way in the lady asked me to buy 50/50 tickets. I asked who got the money if I won, she said SR. So I didn't buy any tickets I gave a 20 dollar donation, and said do not put that in the pot, I don't want anyone from pembroke getting my money. She asked me where am I from? I said pembroke. I claimed we have made some dumb decisions lately and don't want my money wasted.

Went and watched a quarter and a half and I witnessed something that I thought I would never see. I watched PSHS defense call a timeout when SR had a 4th and long and 2 defensive coaches were talking to the players, one of the coaches has been there for 30 yrs, was a head coach for a year and has been working with the defense for 20 plus yrs had a coach who has been there for less than 5 pull him on the shoulder to pull him out of the huddle so he could talk to the players. On a 4th and long shouldn't the DB coach be the one coaching up his young backs? Shouldn't you have more respect for the guy who coached you in HS to do that? That is the issue they are having coaches are out for self not the players. I am just glad he didn't have the knife in his hand from last year.

Oh yeah! The parents in the stands are to funny. Some don't even know a X or an O in the alphabet but they think they know football. They think by beating a struggling 1a school they are conference ready. Ladies and Gentlemen, I am not bashing the players or coaches but they are not ready for conference! They are as much ready as UNCP would be ready to play Alabama or Ohio St.

Qb over 250 rushing and passing in 1 game

Ross Rushing of Metrolina Christian had a great night in a 66-42 win over High Point Christian. The score was 58-22 when the starters were pulled in the 4th. I'm sure it has been done but when was the last time a dual threat QB ran and threw over 250 yds. each? 17-29 / 271 / 3 tds. passing and 262 yds on 23 carries.
High Point Christian was not a pushover and was actually expected to win this game.

Asheville 27 Pisgah 9 and other MAC scores

Asheville beats Pisgah at home 27-9. Asheville moves to 3-0. Pisgah drops to 2-1. I'm not sure about the other MAC scores but yall can post them here.

As for our game. I feel the same way after this one as I did after the first 2. Its very hard to watch us play this year through 3 games. It is hard to watch that many talented players on one team and everything look like a struggle. Pisgah had some fight in them and they are no slouch of a team, but we should have blown that team off the field. We were in complete control of the game the entire way, but for whatever reason we are just terrible with the lead. Its like we just put it in cruise control once we go up 14 and become the most predictable high school team in the country. For the life of me I still cannot understand we do not try to get the ball in Makaus Brewer and Isaiah Drummonds hands more. We threw to those guys maybe 3-4 times total and they caught everything for about 150 yards. There are dozens of plays where a single smaller corner is one on one with these guys and we don't even ATTEMPT to throw one up to them. Its frustrating to watch this team, its like watching a Ferrari go around a race track going 35 mph. I am not impressed so far with this team if we are really a top 5-6 team in 3a.

The midgets from Belmont.

  • The little town of Smellmont where midgets go to breed. We are short and weak and don't have any speed. We went to the Ranch thinking we might have a chance, but didn't take long till we messed in our pants.Coach these guys are to big and fast as can be, none of them buckled when we chopped at their knee.Coach they keep coming and coming knocking us down, running right through us and passing all around.Up on the scoreboard its not what we thought we would see. It's the end of the game and Crest is taking a knee. We run to the bus as fast as we can, please driver get us back to smellmont as fast as you can back to little people land.

bishop 34 alleghany 22

Alleghany gave it there best effort and could have won the game if it wasnt for a few missed errors. 23 has got to learn to hold on to the football. Sure he had almost 200yrds rushing but the kidd fumbles every game. Fumbled against north stokes killed opening drive of game, fumbled on kick return last week and fumbled inside the 10 yrd line when it was tied at 22 and bishops defense was wore out. The kidd fumbled alot last year too sheesh. Few ?s for coach sessoms 1. what is the deal with having your qbs run a marathon to u on the sidelines so u can whisper the plays in their ear. I meen it would be one thing if we had a complicated playbook but we only have like a total of 7 plays at most in our playbook their has got to be a better way to get play to qb. Alleghany fumbles the opening kickoff of the game, big boy picks up the squib kick and tries to run and fumbles. 2. Coach shouldnt u teach lineman to just falldown if they get the kickoff not try and be heros? hell we even had the qb line up under the guard on accident one play. 3. #3 was hurt tonight but coach y let him be the workhorse last week all the way down the field in 1st half getting u down to 1st and goal at the 8 and then never give him the ball again on that drive and start throwing passes? 4. take the reverse play out of our 7 page play book, it hasnt worked all year long and is a huge drive killer when we lose 5 yrds everytime its run. 5. I understand u throw the ball at the end and get down to the 15 but why not try to run it in from there. Sure there was only 3 and half minutes left but why not do what was done all night and hammer that thing in. When the field is short like that go ahead and run it in because the whole world knows the ball is goin to avery hash if u throw it. 6. Last ? why not call ur 3 timeouts and get the ball back at the end of the game. I understand there was slightly less than 3 minutes left but hey u never know what can happen.

I wasnt goin to post about alleghany this year because when we r outmatched and take a buttwhippin, bitchin about the coach doesnt really matter, but tonight was a different story and we should have won that game.

Proud of alleghanys effort tonight they played with alot of heart and 23 u r a very good runner just put some stick em on those gloves. Much improved team over the last 2 weeks, hopefully we get 1st win vs south stokes next week and build off that.

Ninja

Just wondering how that 3 headed monster backfield is doing stat wise now??? Ya know, after the Panther defense shut them down.

Like I've said all along, if the offense can move the ball, we will be fine my friend. Defensively, we are quick all over the field. It was just a matter of time until the offense started clicking.

Mooresville 44 Hopewell 20

This one got started after a one hour lightning delay. When it began though, the Hopwell Titans came out throwing, as in a deep slant across the middle that went for 70 yards and a touchdown on their first play from scrimmage. Mooresville answered back and both teams traded scores thereafter. Hopewell got another deep ball connection and led 20-14 at the half. But the Blue Devils scored in the third to take a one point lead despite a multitude of penalties. The fourth quarter was all Mooresville as they appeared to hit their stride. This game was MUCH closer than the final score. Hats off to the Titans for their efforts. Their passing game shows promise. Mooresville prepares for a trip to Kannapolis next week.
