There used to be a five way intersection about a mile from SWE. People called it The Junction. Whenever SWE goes 10 miles up the road to play arch rival Tarboro, it's just Tarboro vs SWE. But when Tarboro comes to SWe, it's dubbed The Function at the Junction. This year's semi annual Function pits 5-0 vs 5-0 for the first time since 2009, which was the last time my Cougars were victorious in the series. Tarboro is coming off a very good victory against 3A Southern Nash, but nobody that plays SN comes away without feeling it, and Tarboro was no exception. They had two of their defensive stars knocked out of the game. Don't know their status. SWE is coming of a 48pt victory over a so-so Bertie squad. As they say in rivalry games, the records go out the window in this matchup of two teams that just don't like each other. It's all good off the field, but on the field or on the court, it's a different story. My thought is whoever wins this game goes 11-0. The game is sold out already. This is the area's favorite time of year and combine the homecoming procedures festivities, and it should be an awesome atmosphere tonight. Anybody wanna make a pick? I will admit, our schedule so far has been...ehhh. We defeated a good Holmes team and a one loss North Edgecombe, but we also have played a team that has one victory in the last two and a half seasons, and a team that has yet to win this year. And I can't overlook Tarboro beating Southern Nash and Washington. So we will see. I don't think that they will be able to contain our running game, but rivalry games create a lot of adrenalin for both squads, so idk. I just don't know. My pick....SWE 27-22

This week starts conference play in the MAC. Things have panned out just like most thought they would with Erwin, ACR, and Asheville fighting for the top spot. The rest are not looking so hot. Here are the games this week. What you got?

My picks.....

NB 35 Enka 21...What in the world has happened to Enka. I thought they might be decent this year but losing to Brevard is pretty bad. NB will get their qb back and should roll in this one.

Asheville 28 Carver 24....I really don't know much about Carver but they are usually pretty good and will have a lot of athletes. Asheville can not look ahead to the Reynolds game.

Roberson 21 Mcdowell 14...I cant get a good read on either of these teams. Mcdowell gets killed by 1A Mitchell and comes back and beats Owen handily. Roberson looked terrible all year but actually played Crest decent. Maybe they woke up?

Erwin 48 ACR 45...I am sure most will pick Reynolds and that is understandable. Erwin finally ends a brutal 6 game stretch of great opponents this Friday. Both teams look really good offensively but not as good defensively. Rico will get his yards and will be one of the better players Erwin has faced this season. I look for a shootout with the team with the ball last winning. These two programs have been very competitive over the last 6 years or so. This should be another good one.

Anyone ever heard of a head football coach pulling chains on the visiting teams sidelines during a JV game. The S Durham head football coach was part of the chain crew during a home JV game vs Orange.

After a 35-18 punch to the mouth by ACR tonight on the Warriors home turf Erwin players, coaches, and fans surely must wonder what has happened as they stare at a harrowing 2-4 record midway through the 2015 season.

Supposedly, the brutal non-con schedule would prepare Erwin to roller derby their way through the always impressive MAC and yet we have not seen this as they struggled with Franklin last week and were readily handled by the Rockets this evening. I'm worried for them. Would someone break this down for me? Thanks so much.

Mount Airy 3-2 Don't seem to have faith in coach Holder to turn this around . Time will tell but yall want them out out it. JUST LOVE GIVING THE BEARS AND FANS A ROUGH TIME. As I See it there is a conflick of intrest when a Starmount fan and Bear hater pulls the strings the way thay want ! This place is a JOKE ! ! ! ! Could be a lot beneath the serface . Game of the Week:

East Bladen @ Midway- Both teams are perfect through non-conference play at 4-0 records. East Bladen shook the rust off last week and I believe will be ready. Coach Priest won't let this team look ahead and will be focused solely on Midway. Midway features a great Fullback and a real good group of RB's but their offensive style plays to the strength of East Bladen Defense. East Bladen has been off to really good starts in games so far and I think it will happen again. East Bladen 35- Midway 10

Pender @ Clinton- Not much to say here. Clinton will take out it's frustrations on the Patriots and the clock will be running in the 3rd quarter. Tune up for next week. Clinton fans get home early Friday night. Clinton 56- Pender 0

West Bladen @ Union- This is a tough one. My head is saying West Bladen but injuries have plagued the Knights so far this season with the main RB out for a while. Union's Defense has been stellar so far this year but West put up 43 2 weeks ago against St. Paul's. Union, IMO, is much better than the Bulldogs so they get the edge Friday night. Saw this article in the Lexington Dispatch and thought it was a good article.

Tough loss. Led 6-0 at half. Blew another couple of opportunities in first half. Second half different story. Braves never got it together. No running game. Had good passing game. Probably should have passed more. Lost their focus after Murphy went up. Couldn't tackle.

Let's face it. With lots of freshmen and sophomores playing both ways, there's not much of a chance against a team like Murphy. They just keep running in fresh players.

Rainy night in Brevard.....BD's go 3 & out. Panthers get a 1st down. but then are forced to punt.

Early but Brevard moving the ball on the Panthers D. Sounds like Franklin is flat after the tough loss last weekend.

Panthers force a 3 & 11 but jump offsides. Then stop Brevard, on 4th & 6 Franklin offsides. Brevard makes the 1 yd then strike for a 33yd TD. 7-0 Brevard! About 4 minnutes left in the 1st.

Franklin wakes up & quickly gets down to the 18 but a fumble after complete pass gives the ball back to the BD's. Brevard now driving again & giving the Panthers fits!

Panthers hold & get a couple 1st downs but mounting penalties kill the drive. Brevard starts at the Panthers 48.

Franklin finally wakes up & pushes the BD's backwards. After the punt the Panther march 80yds to tie the score 7-7.

Halftime tied up in Brevard 7-7!

Franklin gets the ball to start the 2nd H. Brevard crowds the line & pays for it as the Panthers hit a 76yd TD strike on 3&6 pat no good. 13-7 Panthers.

Panthers seem to have woken up! Brevard goes 3 & out and the Panthers score again 2pt conv. good. 21-7 Franklin.

Just when it looks like the Panthers are about to put some space between the teams Brevard pics a out pass down to the one. Panthers hold for a loss back to the 5 then a BD hold puts them back to the 18. 9yd pass to the 9 3rd & goal. TD pass Brevard! BD's make the pat but a penalty backs them up & a bad snap forces a miss. 21-13 Panthers 16 sec left in the 3rd.

Panthers march down the field & score again. Brevard is fighting but wearing down. Only 20 dressed for the BD's pat good 28-13 Panthers 8 min left.

Franklin scores again to put this one out of reach 5:45 left 35-13 Panthers.

Panthers have pulled the starters & the clock is winding down.

Robbinsville took it to my Wildcats last night. Milsaps killed us on the edges with very strong runs and good speed. Their secondary is very stable on Defense and a huge line. We didn't help ourselves by all the arm tackling and poor special team play. Congratulations and now we have to face who I believe to be the SMC champion this year, Rosman.

This game will no doubt be the battle of East Forsyty Defense vs the Page Offense.

The Page defense allowed HIgh point Central to score 27 points ( 2nd Highest points scored by them) not to mention west Forsyth held HPC to 13 points. The page Defense also Allowed Reagan to score 50 points (2nd most of ttheir season).

Not trying to bash the pirate defense just out of the areas of the game. The page defense seems to be the weak link.

It may not matter because the Page offense makes up for it scoring more than 50 points almost every game. I think the Page offense may get shut down by the Eagle Defense led by Madison Cone and multiple other players with multiple ACC offers and looks.

Over all I think it will be a high scoring game but the Eagles will come out on top.

Coming to High Point Christian to play this year, will be fun to watch.

After four weeks of football (Greensboro)Page and East Forsyth (Kernersville) seem to have emerged as the top two teams in the area.

Of course Dudley being right there with them.

As many people know the surprise team of the season fell Friday (Glenn)
Max preps and Carolina varsity had them ranked at 11th in the state and they lost to the team east Forsyth beat by 40.

Triad game of the week. (Reagan vs Page. Two offenses who are both very good. Reagan who had the best run defense in the county statistically till the East Forsyth game. Will also be a huge game for The top team in Forsyth county as east plays them next week and will be a good way to compare east and page.

Next week(9/25) of course probably the game of the state. High ranked East and page play each other who as of now are both undefeated. Both teams draw huge crowds. East has home field advantage, no team has beaten east in the regular season at home since 2011

Excited about this game, it answers a lot of questions. Both teams coming off big wins, should make for a huge crowd.

Murphy jumped on Gilmer quick Friday night, offense seems to be finding a groove with 34 running a lot more physical. Run defense needs some work but solid performance over all for the dogs.

Big win for the Braves, glad to see them getting better. The conference is better with teams more even at the top. I expect the Braves to bring their A game and be ready to play, can't wait.
