Greater metro 4 conference

As non-conference play comes to a end it’s time for the rubber to hit the road. Should be another fun season for the conference! Still think by seasons end HR will be fighting right there to win the conference after being battle tested in the first 4 games.
Any early season thoughts?

A.L. Brown 2-1
South Iredell. 2-2

Mitchell @ Andrews

Big test for Mitchell.
If the Mitchell I saw against McDowell shows up should be a good game if the one I saw against Allegheny shows it won't.
I realize that Allegheny is a better team than McDowell but their heads didn't seem to be in the game plus totally different offense I actually like a little more passing because the QB has a good arm and good receivers but though he threw a pretty 40 yard TD pass they're more effective in the short passes. And I believe I'd go back to under center when the long snap works in the shotgun things go well but it's just to inconsistent. They just need to stick with their strengths a strong running game with 4 or 5 good RB's plus one positive we found out last week the QB has some wheels and short passes eat clock and keep the other teams offense off the field.

Ok fellow MA fans

Now that we have been scored on, let’s end the hoopla about whether or not we were going to give up any points in the regular season. And yes, I know that the touchdown we allowed was after we were up 49-0 and it was a bad snap on a punt that Ashe recovered in the end zone. So yes, this means it wasn’t technically a touchdown given up by our defense. But still, points are points. Didn’t ever once think that we would get through the regular season without giving up any points.

So now that that is out of the way, there are some things that I have noticed about MA so far that need to be cleaned up. The first thing is penalties. Is it just me, or do we seem to be getting a lot of flags thrown on us? Tonight, we had I think three long touchdowns called back on us. Each game this year it seems like we have had good long touchdowns called back. Need to clean up the penalties.

Another thing is resting the starters. The first four games have been blowouts and they won’t be the last regular season games that end in blowouts. While it is good that we can build depth and everyone get playing experience while also minimizing risk of starters getting injured when the game is already won, I wonder about if the starters are getting enough reps. Yes, this MA team is very experienced, talented, and primed for a deep playoff run with state title repeat aspirations. My concern is that with the starters coming out so soon, will they be in good enough “game shape” for when a game arrives that takes them deep into the 4th quarter? Should the coaches look to get them more reps in lopsided wins?

Simmons Ratings - Week 4

I've had a busy week so I'm a little late with the update this week, so I apologize. As I type this, everything on the site is updated except the standings.

I got 88% of my picks right last week, which is the highest week 3 total ever, I think. I don't expect to keep that up this week - lots of games that could go either way.

Check out my power ratings, game predictions, consecutive streaks, and more:

Hendo vs Heritage or Shelby vs Olympic

Normally I'd pick Papas and Beer then Hendo and Heritage. This doesn't have that same magic feeling it did a couple years ago.... my other choice is Bridges BBQ and Shelby vs Olympic... I did Bridges on 74 last time and wanna compare and see what's all the hubbub about the dueling BBQ places.... hmmmmm definitely food and Friday night lights though!!!
