Corvian?

I think all these charter and any non-public schools that can draw 25-plus miles away should eventually be in a playoff of their own in football and basketball. Once schools like Corvian start winning football State championships annually then we all will realize how unfair their advantage is. They need to be placed in a playoff of their own which I hear this said almost every year in football but mainly basketball.

Won't happen. NCGA doesn't care about fair. If they did they wouldn't be straining rural school systems to fund privates in metro areas.

Corvian?

You can take 5 random kids from a 25 mile radius that have never played basketball together before and make it work. Hard to do that in football consistently.

But hey, this is what happens when we keep electing people that value the all mighty dollar that don't support traditonal public schools. Maybe is school systems could donate money it would be different.

Smoky at Pisgah

Yes, I think Erwin wins against Smoky in almost every scenario. Smoky needs long drives that end in points every time. I think Erwin will score almost every possession so if Smoky misses an opportunity it will most likely result in a 2-score swing. As I said elsewhere, I believe Smoky is better equipped to have a chance at winning this game than we would have been. They have been better at consistently moving the chains and getting points from it.
How is Smokey's pass defense?

Corvian?

Yes, that's a very easy recipe to have a good basketball team. Football is different but it wouldn't be hard to massage the numbers and have a good 1a football team with that kind of dirt all while playing within the rules. 2A and above would be harder to play by the rules and be above average on a state level.

AWESHUXXXPA had the scoop on these guys until Deana gave him a whooping! 🤣
Yes, he was a poster that was already posting about his school and Deana saw his IP address was being used to stir up crap on several schools and AWESHUXXXPA has not posted since she showed she knew who he was and I have a pretty good idea who they were also.

We get what we ask for. Wait until these private schools that are getting millions of dollars push the state to be a part of things.

West Charlotte vs Huss

They need to play in a conference with Thomas Jefferson, Highland Tech and Cherryville.
Garinger would crush those teams. That's the issue with moving them. Garinger is 3A/4A bad, but those schools are 1A/2A bad. There is a difference.

As mentioned above the issue is some schools just have no diversity balance to be able to field certain sports. Garinger Boys soccer in 1A/2A/ 3A wouldnt lose a single game and would be the favorites easily. Garinger football would be a playoff teams but wouldn't win 1a,2a,3a or be a threat. Garinger should not have football and allow its students to participate at other schools.

2025-2029 NCHSAA Realignment Timeline UPDATE #3

So can what has been posted in ADM numbers be corrected and changed by Tuesday? It seems I read back when this talk all started a month or so ago that Mount Airy's ADMs would be dropping some by 2025. I am not sure if it was enough to change their classification but I was surprised they jumped from 1A to 3A but anything the NCHSAA does surprises me. I hope as I also head this will change every 2 years instead of every 4 years as some schools are jumping in leaps and bounds in the last few years. I think MA may be ok in 3A but if they do drop in ADMs they and others should drop every 2 years in classification. Sorry, but I am just thinking about any teams that ADMs change next year, and the AMDs are being based on 2024 and not 2025-2026 if I understand what has been said. Are any other schools also concerned about the same thing.

Ashbrook at South Point II (the rematch)

He is a tough kid but he takes a pounding. He probably is just playing through a lot of things. Playing physical teams do not help his cause. I will be surprised if he decides to play football next season due to his college baseball commitment.
I've had the same thought about his focus on baseball trumping him playing next season but have recently been hearing he may shift his focus to playing football in college rather than baseball.

West Charlotte vs Huss

WC did play 4A with 3A numbers for a few years and it did look like they would have 3A numbers at the last realignment. The time between when the state did realignment and the school year actually started WC numbers begin to jump back up and has climbed every year. WC predicted that it would be around 1300 students prior to last alignment but ended up that first year around 1700 and climbed each year the past four. Teams petition to go down but rarely petition to move up a classification. The difference in numbers are a huge advantage in the smaller classifications.
WC was around 1300-1400 for years during the 2000s. The new school has been better than most thought and the enrollment has grown tremendously the past 3 years. This is due to the feeder middle schools, football success, IB academic focus, and the new southern schools opening.

Now outside of football give me one sport where WC has benefited from being in 3A? Dont worry I'll wait............

Corvian?

Charter in Charlotte area with a 25 mile radius to get athletes. Surprise, they are a good team. Wonder why?

West Charlotte vs Huss

I am not 100% sure but I think the last alignment, West Charlotte was numbers wise 4a. What brought them down to 3a was the special circumstances clause of low Wachovia points and free lunches.
That's false. WC has been low income since 1999 when the busing changed. They have always been historically 4A. They were at 1756 in 24, 2009 23, 2020 1331, 2019 1577, When they were 4A and there were many 3A schools bigger than them as 2019 they were smaller than most 3A schools. So it had nothing to do with Wachovia points or free lunches. They had a low enrollment whereas schools like Cleveland, Weddington Brown, Cox Mill where in similar positions to WC competing as super large schools in 3A. They basically switched teh bottom 8 or so 4A teams with the top 8 or so 3A teams.

Burns @ Monroe

24-10 against North Stanly Comets and trust me when I say the Vomits are a bad football team. They are dumb, undisciplined and not well coached. Monroe is going to be a lot more like playing Crest and Shelby. They are very very fast. Y'all played a barn burner against them 2 years ago. But you are traveling to them, that's gonna be a little tougher. I sincerely hope y'all win.
You described them as if they were Cherryville. They were 6-4 coming into the game so I think your opinion is more personal. They were not a great team but by saying "Vomits" shows me a lot. Offensively they struggled for the most part. They had two drives that were pretty good and one in particular ran the ball right at us. They were a little scrappy too. What impressed me was their defense at times. They were pretty physical. We definitely made them look better at times and once we got up 17-0 it seemed like we got a little too settled in. The coaches fired them back up and sealed the deal with the late score. They were by no means an awful team.

Burns @ Monroe

Yea, I'm not expecting a win this week. But we knew this year would always be a transition year. When your best linebacker is your QB, you're probably going to have some problems. What I don't understand, is the last several years our passing offense has been screens and the deep ball. Which seemed to work a lot. You would think that type of offense would be easy to run for a non-traditional QB with a strong arm. You don't have to make many reads, just get the ball out quick with some zip on it. But we don't do that. Instead, we run, run, run, run some more then take a deep shot. That game against Monroe a couple years ago was a fun one. I haven't seen Monroe this year, but going by their history, we're going to have to play our best game and get a little lucky.

Mt Pleasant vs Community School of Davidson

Depends on which Mount defense shows up. If the defense that played NW Cabarrus and Robinson shows up then Mount wins. If the defense that played against South Stanly and last Friday shows up they may lose. I know they beat SS and won Friday but they did not play good defense in either of those games and in my opinion those were inferior opponents.

Brackets Have Up-Dated for 11/29/24 Day after Thanksgiving

Think the Mitchell game will be a lot like the Heritage game.
Best of luck to Mitchell and the Western Mountain teams that survived Hurricane Hellene !
Only until and if you play the BEARS. Hoping 🐻🏈does a 3 peat. 😉😉
Hoping that losing by 4 points to Avery woke them up. Mitchell has MA by a few playoff games and we need to catch up. lol...
