The higher ADMs for Mount Airy do not really help the football team as much but give us a really good soccer team with some great Hispanic players we get. They have moved on to the Western finals in the playoffs after their upset match against #5 Carver, PPC & #1 Highland Tech. They play #13 Mount Airy vs #2 Bradford Prep for the Western title tomorrow.

As mentioned above the issue is some schools just have no diversity balance to be able to field certain sports. Garinger Boys soccer in 1A/2A/ 3A wouldnt lose a single game and would be the favorites easily. Garinger football would be a playoff teams but wouldn't win 1a,2a,3a or be a threat. Garinger should not have football and allow its students to participate at other schools.

Garinger is bad and those teams are bad. Enrollment size doesn't really matter when you only score 22 points in a season. Try and find any of the nearby 2A/3A size schools they would be competitive against.

I am hoping to see East Wilkes, Mount Airy, and Starmount move to the 3rd round and East Wilkes play a close game in the third round against Mount Heritage. Only Mount Airy or Starmount can move on from the 3rd round when the games start to get tougher to win. My point is the NWC is not a weak conference as some have said. If it was weak then Mount Airy would not have won the 1A State Championship in 2022 & 2023.

Everyone has said JM Robinson is trying to recruit everyone haha I am sure the numbers are exaggerated, and I know they have at least one P5 kid on the team. Sounds more like a coaching/culture issue than anything else.

It seems I read back when this talk all started a month or so ago that Mount Airy's ADMs would be dropping some by 2025. I am not sure if it was enough to change their classification but I was surprised they jumped from 1A to 3A but anything the NCHSAA does surprises me. I hope as I also head this will change every 2 years instead of every 4 years as some schools are jumping in leaps and bounds in the last few years. I think MA may be ok in 3A but if they do drop in ADMs they and others should drop every 2 years in classification. Sorry, but I am just thinking about any teams that ADMs change next year, and the AMDs are being based on 2024 and not 2025-2026 if I understand what has been said. Are any other schools also concerned about the same thing.

First it's Stanly, and second no one and I do mean no one considers Norwood a Southern suburb of Albemarle. Third, Terry Shankle is a pretty good coach for his second year as a head coach. He has a good group of juniors and will be pretty decent next year as well. That being said I feel like Starmount is probably a little bit better and a little deeper than South.

The freshman receiver (Hutchens) got his first varsity start and had a great impact not only catching, but down field block as well. Hate the sack leader (Odems) seems to be done for the year. I see him being moved to LB next year and racking up bigger numbers next year.

This is why if ADMs change every 2 years then classifications should change also if the NCHSAA wants to do some work every 2 years and do the changes that need to be made !
