Butler at Richmond

Butler has been running the same offense for decades now. They have modified its some based on personnel. Butler’s offense tends to scheme people open with the misdirection and shifting while the offense Ferebee had was predicated on his dawgs being more talented. I knew the offensive adjustment would be difficult.

Defense was awful week one and better week 2. Hope around week 6 things should come together.

To Blue and Gold’s point I think Butler is different because of the tradition of hiring from within since they opened in 1997 which helps with continuity. They haven’t had a losing season since 97. What they were doing was working.

I think you hire out if it’s Sam from WC (Butler alum) or if Knotts or Palmieri wanted the job. Outside of that just keep it in the family.
Stone or Littlejohn would have been great selections. Stone understood the Culture and knew the kids. I doubt a lot would have changed with him. Littlejohn was not interested. Knotts or Palmieri would have stayed at their last Charlotte programs. Definitely no interest between those 2. Butler's Varsity could easily go 4-6 this year, with the JV potentially doing worst. It's already difficult geographically to get parents to relocate to Mathews. If they don't figure it out this year. How do you convince anyone to play at Butler. Parents are already on the phone, trying to find homes for next year. If Charlotte paid like SC, and GA the Aaron Brands, Mike Palmieri's and Tommy Knotts would still be here. 85% of the head coaches in Charlotte wouldn't have jobs. Six figures would increase the talent level of coaching pedigree.

Coach Ferebee is a great coach. He will get it turned around. The hire was high risk high reward. You are changing cultures, schemes, and mass coaches. Then you didn't hire who most thought was a no brainer and someone in the building like the prior hires.

Think we under estimated the scheme changes and their effect. Ferebee is too good of a coach and that staff too good technique wise for them to be down long. They will get killed this week then it gets better.

Tarboro vs North Edgecombe

No doubt if those SWE teams had been in 1a back then they would have played for at least one state title. You'd have to deal with Wallace Rose Hill though. Maybe this is the year y'all can break through. I do feel like quite a few Tarboro fans would go if swe made it all the way. Depending on what time of day Tarboro would hopefully be playing lol
I'm not even trying to say that we'll do it this year. Starting to sound like Cowboy fans saying "this is our year" every single year. And Lord knows I don't want to have anything in common with a cowboy fan. Football season is insufferable enough with my wife being one of those delusional people😔.

Max Preps 2a rankings after week 2

Nash will not be out of the top 25 for long.
Nash Central will finish the regular season at 6-4, maybe 7-3 if they beat Beddingfield. They had their fun last year, but will come back to earth this year, from what I saw. Their QB is bad and unless the center gets better, he's gonna cause a lot of issues with his soft, lofty shotgun snaps. The QB had to jump nearly every play just to get the ball. Their offense struggled mightily against us, managing only 14 meaningful points. They added a kick off return and a garbage time td to a final score of 26. Most of the night, they never made it past our 35. I also believe that a well established offense that knows what they are doing well have no problem with their defense. They will beat Goldsboro, Franklinton, Bunn, Rocky Mount, and Roanoke Rapids for sure. That's 6 total wins. No match for Southern and Northern Nash, and I think Beddingfield is capable of taking them down. I know everyone had them at the top of their radar, but I think they are right where they need to be on your list.

East Lincoln at Lincolnton

You really went out on a limb there with that prediction, huh? 🤣🤣
Could be a blow out or close game....but could also be a 2 score game as well. What we do know for sure is that the team with the most points at the end of the game will win.
First

It’s rivalry so Anything can happen regardless of record

But

2nd -

Realistically this game shouldn’t be close

That’s why I said what I said …..
