Richmond VS Clayton Round 2

great showing by the raiders last night, clayton drove for a score first possession then the
raiders locked them down the rest of the night. If raiders can get rid of some of those
undisciplined penalties they are a tough out....
The best team in the east rolesville comes to town next week..
Raiders lost to Gibbons handily and rolesville beat gibbons in OT in the best
4a game of the year IMO. I was at gibbons for that one..

Burke County hoops

Who would you consider the favorite to win that conference? South Caldwell would be my choice. They hammered West Caldwell tonight and have rolled early on.
Coach Anderson will have the Spartans right, so they are probably the favorites. I don’t know what Watauga lost off last year’s team, so they could also be good. But I’ll tell you now that no one will have as much depth as FHS and, if Zimmerman can use it right, we can flat out run you to death.

Corvian?

Recruited teams usually are very good. They (the Charter and private schools) get to choose their players while public schools normally only get the players from their community.

Sounds to me like a decided advantage. However, this coming Friday night Corvian gets to play EASTERN RANDOLPH.

Wish I could be in two places at once because I would certainly be pulling for ER, right along with Motherhood, apple pie and the American Way.
Not even to mention having a pregame meal at American Roadhouse!! OMG!

Maiden at Shelby (Round 2)

Awesome year Maiden. The adversity we faced with injuries and to all of a sudden not have our starting RB/OLB last night, we still played a heck of a game defensively.

Momentum is a fickle little thing and I'd love to believe that if we made all those missed sacks, this game would have been very different. But, we didn't and Shelby was the team that made the plays. I am still impressed at our run defense and holding Shelby to just 7 in the second half.

Congrats to the lions. You're young and disciplined...excellent combination. Make some noise.
I ate an entire livermush sammich on just one play where that big lumbering lumberjack QB scrambled around trying to find somebody to throw it too.
I was yelling…throw it over here…I got ya…I’ll take it to the house!😜

Great game! Grizz. Had a ball watching this bunch.

Congratulations again to Shelby and their fans.

Tip of the cap to those Bunker Hill Bears too!

East Rutherford at Reidsville - Round 2

We have said this for years.

Reidsville piled up many previous championships without having to play other greats in the state within their classification.
They avoided them by either membership in a rival association, or by sub classification where 50% of same size schools in the state were dodged.
Did they play and win against what was placed in front of them by others?
Of course they did.
But they have never proven or established themselves as the self proclaimed “capitol (sic)” of anything.
Reidsville went 31 consecutive recent years without a title or even a title game appearance.

So what has happened in these four years where the classes had unified titles and Reidsville had to play in a format that included ALL similar sized schools in the state.

1 for 4.

And with Shelby winning its fourth unified title as Reidsville won its first during this period.

Without question, the 2023 Reidsville squad was a super team, probably the best across all classes. We acknowledge greatness.
But you are not the “capitol (sic)” of anything.

And tonight you lose in the second round to East Rutherford.
It should be noted, that outside of our consistently winning 3 Cleveland County rivals, East Rutherford is geographically the next closest NC high school to Shelby.
We have played them forever, mostly as conference opponents.
We are not surprised they beat you tonight.
You play nobody in conference or out, and get rewarded with another #1 seed.
You benefit enormously from the weakness of teams in your area.

Another point.
We challenged years ago whether Reidsville’s recent resurgent success would continue beyond Coach Teague Sr’s tenure.
Will history show he was the dominant factor and the program will suffer significantly with his departure.
By comparison, the Shelby program has enjoyed multiple titles under each of the 5 recent head coaches, going all the way back to 1955.
That is a program DYNASTY.
No gaps, no let ups.
Can Teague Jr do it? Can his successor?
Still a lot to prove before talking the capitol nonsense.

Finally, a significant number of the current Golden Lion squad did not celebrate your loss tonight.
They wanted the shot at you this year as repayment for last year’s defeat.
And we are now all aware that realignment has conveniently placed Reidsville safely away from any rematches with Shelby for the next four years. By one spot.
Essentially, the realignment is nothing more than a reset of the subclasses where 3 of your titles were opposite of 3 of Shelby’s, and Shelby clearly was dominant.
It continues to pay off for Reidsville’s own Que Tucker to head the association and subtly assist “ her team”.

So while it is easy enough for us to prove your self proclaimed claim is bogus….
It’s much better to watch you prove it for us.

The Shelby Golden Lions.
The True Dynasty.
The most successful, sustained, winningest high school football program in North Carolina.

East Rutherford at Reidsville - Round 2

That’s odd I thought he was a power 5 guy? Did he do anything against East Rutherford?
Jones 3 receptions, 23 yards; Harrison 3 catches 30 yards; J Sharpe 3 catches 42 yards ....
East Rutherford's defense did a great job against the Rams' passing attack. Not many open receivers all night. 95 team passing yards was a season low. That was one week after coming close to 400 yards.
Neal was forced to scramble, not so much because of pressure, but because of no open targets. Neal was amazing with 124 yards on 12 carries (scrambles) ... I don't think many (if any) were designed running plays.
Neal also had an interception in the end zone and a fumble return for a touchdown. Pound for pound (160), the best player in the state - offense, defense, special teams. He does it all.
