DId they hire the old coach? If so, why? I know his tenure was a long time but did no one else apply? What happened to Newsome?

They did hire former coach Barry Johnson. As far as coach Newson I am not positive , I know some things happened during the conference tournament and after that Joey Robinson finished up the season coaching in playoffs, could just be coincidence

Jmo if Barry had never left heritage. The boys would’ve won a state championship in the last 15 years. Newsome won with a lot of talented guys. Bj is one of the top 10 guys to ever coach in wnc.
