Myron Harrington, who has been the head coach at GSDS for 5 seasons, will not be back for a 6th. Harrington was 11-93 in his 5 years as coach. Gray Stone has been one of the worst 1A basketball schools in the state, and the program has never had a winning record. The program has never won a playoff game, only making the playoffs 4 times. Whoever coach Morris hires will have a ton of work to get this program going in the right direction

And it doesn't matter if you hire John Calipari, that's not going to change. Gray Stone is first and foremost a rigorous, academically demanding charter school, and you are very unlikely to get the top-notch basketball players in the Stanly, Rowan, and Cabarrus areas from which the school primarily draws, to come there.

The girls team is pretty good, so what's the difference?

A good coach would entice good intelligent basketball players to go there and then we'll be complaining about the advantage they have. They have a pretty solid girl's volleyball program as well.

The Yadkin Valley is going through some changes next season it looks like. Talks of Albermarle shutting down, new coaches at South Davidson, now Graystone and according to jabr North Moore needs a coach as well. Plus you add in the fact it's getting divided into West and East Divisions with the 2 new Charter Schools, next year will be totally different. Guess this benefits East Montgomery. They should be heavily favored to win the conference.

Gray Stone has the ability to be a good basketball program, with the right coach. The soccer program has done very well, along with girls basketball, volleyball, and cross country. It's all in the coach to build a successful program. With the state the YVC will be in, anything can be possible next year.

All-out, you seem to be in the know about the YVC, how will the 2 new Charter Schools be next year?

Uwharrie will do well in the YVC for mens basketball, girls will not be good at all. I didn't think there was but one school coming to the YVC next year

The guys team at Chatham Charter are going to struggle, they are young and need a lot of work. The girls team however, will be on the top end of the conference. They are a very sound team
