I don't think you can lay blame on the current superintendent or BOE for this oversight/violation. I know of at least one current board member who was on in 2010, not sure if there are any others.Originally posted by Buddy Rich:
This just in! SCS did not do a mandatory facilities assessment in 2010 as required by state law. It must be done every 5 years and 2005 was the last time an assessment was done in stanly county. When asked about this the superintendent said she was unaware it had not been done in 2010 as she came here in 2012. Yet these people are wanting to close some schools that are in bad shape, when they don't have a clue what kind of shape they are in. The superintendent said she would ask the board to vote to have an assessment done at the April meeting. They wanted to close some schools when they were in direct violation of state law. You just can't turn your back on anyone anymore. Let's see what happens at the April meeting.
