Albemarle vs #8 Monroe GBK on 12/2

If Monroe is still in the football playoffs after this weekend, this game will be postponed until later. The MHS football coach (Johnny Sowell) is also the boys basketball coach. Also, there are probably multiple basketball players also on the football team.

GBK = Girls Basketball This game will not be postponed it's the girls playing each other. The Monroe Girls varsity is ranked #8 in the Observer sweet 16 poll.

The Boys were going to try to play but could not due to Monroe still playing like you said.

Should be a good game. A lot closer than last years. Not sure how Monore will be with out the Asha Jordan. They do have a new coach. Albemarle(Jada Robinson not sure she was their last year) has a player who has committ to UNC-C. Also they have most of their players back from last year

Albemarle's robinson committed to UNCC and no she was not there last year. They had Branch who is playing at Wingate. Last year is deceiving as when Branch picked up her 3rd foul in the first half Monroe was only up by 8. In the 3rd quarter coach Davis got upset with the effort from his rotation and sat them in the 4th quarter. At that point they were down 25-30 and Monroe left Barrett and Jordan in against essentially the last girls off the bench for Albemarle and that's how the score got as lopsided. It was also Coach Davis' first game girls were playing under a new system and they went in with a basic options off their offense. They returned 11 from last season.

Essentially Monroe outplayed them but they ran up the score for really no reason at all.

I am ancious to see Albemarle in Coach Davis second season. Should be a great game leading to a great season.
