That's the interesting part. The East - West line and where it is drawn will be something to watch for. I think you're right though, Reidsville will probably be back East.

It has not in 1a.
The east has much smaller schools making it a cake wake compared the the west which is very tough. It has also made a lot of byes for the east and push teams like Eastern Randolph in the West make west even tougher and east even weaker. That's not good for the sport.

Take the playoff qualifying teams then ÷ evenly.b

What I have done is drawn east/west for each class individually so that each class can have similar numbers east/west

I hope there will still be predetermined conferences of who is in the East vs. West (makes it SOOO much easier to do playoff projections with less moving parts) but I think the line will be adjusted from the line currently in use....with the current line there would be 226 teams in the West and 215 teams in the East (I'm at 441, adding the four new charter schools that were approved recently AND the new school opening next year in Charlotte)......just need to move 5-6 schools from the West to the East.....looking at the map, I would say redraw the dividing line to include Rockingham County & Montgomery County to the East......then that moves Rockingham, Reidsville, McMichael, Morehead, and Montgomery Central to the East, and you have 221 teams in the West and 220 teams in the East.....and THEN I would split each region into 8 classes of 27 or 28 each

If my count is correct, there are only 18 schools listed in 1A that field football teams, and two of those (Columbia and Mattamuskeet) I believe have been playing 8-man football against independent schools in their areas.

And Thomasville has lost 100-200. Lost over 400 since the seventies. Yet the city itself has almost doubled. That segregationist 1983 district freeze has accomplished its purpose.

What about Randolph? Think Montgomery Central is definitely west of there…

Why can't they draw a line for each class to make it even? The same line doesn't have to be used for all classifications does it?

Yes I'm working on it and like I said in a previous post, I thought moving Montgomery and Rockingham Counties to the East would make it 220 to 220 (not counting the upcoming 4A schools in Mecklenburg & Wake, and surely more charters in the future) but after further review, Bethany is actually in Rockingham Co. (I think)....so just put Rockingham Co. in the West for 1A, and leave it in the East for the other 7 classes....it's looking like Rockingham Co. HS will be 5A, while Reidsville, McMichael, and Morehead will be 4A

hmm....i thought about that but there are so many schools in Randolph Co....to put them all in the East makes it tough to balance....but like others have said (including myself in a recent reply), there could be a different dividing line in each class....for the model I'm working on (still in the process of putting dots on maps....haven't even gotten to conferences yet) I'm going to start with all Randolph Co. schools in the West, but when it gets time to make conferences, I might want to adjust that line and move a few of them in certain classes

And that’s why it’s tough. Right now all schools in same conference. Good gates and not much travel.

North Moore will be in a conference with a few of the Randoilph teams though not all of them who most likely will wind up in 3A ... Perhaps Northwood too ...

58 of them. My proposal has a non football class and 7 football classes. It can be done...but may need a bylaw vote to happen. Just over 50 of those schools are under 600 ADM...so getting the larger schools to care enough to vote would be a problem.
